Progeny Of Yeats Make Winning Start Over Hurdles
Cobblers Dream (5g Yeats - Miss Parkington, by Bob Back) rewarded new connections by making a winning hurdle debut in Tuesday’s two mile Novices’ Hurdle at Warwick.
Purchased for £85,000 after winning a Cork bumper for Sean Aherne, the son of Yeats was sent off favourite on his first start for Ben Case and Lady Jane Grosvenor. Racing in midfield for much of the way, he improved to lead before the second last and was shaken up to go clear from the final flight, going on to score by six and a half lengths.
Bred by Christopher Maye, Cobblers Dream is the sole winner to date out of bumper winner Miss Parkington.
The previous day at Listowel, black-type performer Party Central (5m Yeats - Itsalark, by Definite Article) also made a winning start over hurdles for Gordon Elliott and Bective Stud.
Davy Russell rode the dual bumper winner to chase the leaders, asking the bay to quicken from two out and soon led. Pushed along from the final flight, she score by a length and a quarter.
Bred by Frank Motherway and Kevin Curtin, Party Central landed a Listed bumper in April, having been narrowly denied in a Grade 2 contest in February.
