Progressive Chaser Becomes Latest Graded Winner By Maxios
A step up in trip saw the progressive Uncheckable (5g Maxios – Slatina, by Mastercraftsman) produce a career-best performance in Wednesday’s Grade 3 chase at Compiegne.
The Giada Menato-trained gelding came into Wednesday’s feature having won or placed on all but one of his previous chase starts, including when narrowly denied in a Listed race last time out. Reunited with regular rider Ludovic Philipperon at Compiegne, he raced towards the back of the field for much of the two and a half mile contest and cruised into contention as they turned for home. Travelling strongly approaching the final fence, he led on the run-in and kept on well to win by a neck, with another two lengths back to the Grade 2 winning favourite in third.
Owned by his trainer with Roberto Sieltiel, the now six-time winner was bred by Haras de la Perelle. His Castlehyde Stud sire Maxios has his first Irish-bred three-year-olds offered at this year’s store sales. As foals, they were bought by the likes of Harold Kirk, Willie Mullins, Timmy Hillman, Abbeylands Farm, Richard Frisby, Oak Tree Farm, Lakefield Farm, Rathmore Stud.
