Into Battle (Churchill) Wins At Epsom

Progressive Churchill Colt Follows Up At Epsom

Into Battle (3c Churchill – Madam Baroque, by Royal Applause) produced a smart performance to record back-to-back wins at Epsom on Tuesday.

The Ed Walker-trained colt was last seen winning a mile maiden in November and returned over the same trip, with Saffie Osborne taking the ride. Making all of the running, he was ridden from two furlongs out and dug deep when challenged inside the final furlong. He kept on well to deny the short-priced favourite by a neck, with another half a length back to a 91-rated horse in third.

“Into Battle is such a good-looking horse,” Walker commented after the race. “I'm sure there's plenty more to come.”

The progressive son of Churchill is owned by Philip Afia and Matthew Cottis. He was bred by Norelands and Hamish McCalmont out of a half-sister to Group 2 Adelaide Cup victor Muir (Galileo).
