Progressive Son Of Ocovango Adds To Fine Record
The progressive Unanswered Prayers (6g Ocovango - Fitanga Speed, by Oscar) made a successful step up in trip to record his second win over hurdles at Wincanton on Saturday.
Chris Gordon’s charge made a winning hurdle debut in October, before claiming runners-up honours twice, most recently behind subsequent Grade 1 winner Stage Star (Fame And Glory). Stepping up to two miles and five furlongs, the bay settled in midfield under Tom Cannon and made headway down the back straight. Close up with three to jump, he was ridden from the second last and soon led. Keeping on well, he beat the favourite Flemenstide (Flemensfirth) by two and a quarter lengths, with the pair drawing 16 lengths clear of the field.
Unanswered Prayers has finished in the first two in seven of his nine starts, having first advertised his talents between the flags for Donnchadh Doyle. The son of Beeches Stud sire Ocovango was bred by Kevin Talbot.
