Promising Soldier of Fortune Gelding Takes Maiden Hurdle

Thursday saw Snipe (6g Soldier Of Fortune - Pisces, by Halling) gain a deserved win when justifying favouritism in the maiden hurdle at Ffos Las.

The Soldier Of Fortune gelding joined the Dan Skelton stable after finishing third at Monksgrange on debut for Pierce Power and went close to making a winning hurdle debut on his first start for new connections. Third next time out, he raced over two miles and six furlongs for the first time on Thursday and was ridden to make all by Harry Skelton. Pushed along approaching three out, he was ridden before the next and kept on strongly on the run-in to deny Keable (Fame And Glory) by a length and three quarters. The pair finished clear of the remainder.

Owned by Foxtrot Racing, Snipe was bred by Mrs Ethel Browne.
