Promising Soldier Of Fortune Mare Wins In Fine Style
World Of Fortunes (5m Soldier Of Fortune - Rose Of The World, by Vinnie Roe) built on last month’s promising debut to run out an impressive winner of the mares’ bumper at Wexford on Saturday.
The Liam Kenny-trained mare was beaten just a short head by the hot favourite last month and dropped down to two miles on her second start. Chasing the leaders for much of the way under James Kenny, she led when asked two furlongs from home and was ridden clear a furlong later. Eased down close home, she won by six and a half lengths from black-type performer Familiar Dreams, with another six lengths back to the favourite in third.
“She is a lovely filly,” said the winning rider. “She was very unlucky at Tipperary, where she was only beaten by a nose by one of Willie Mullins'. She seems to have improved a massive amount at home from that first run and she brought her homework to the track today. She is an exciting filly going forward.”
World Of Fortunes is owned by Michael Broderick and was bred by Mr KD Cotter.
