Promising Son Of Westerner Lands Novices Chase
Dual hurdle winner Amarillo Sky (5g Westerner - Bags Of Tricks, by Flemensfirth) got off the mark over fences in Thursday’s Novices’ Chase at Wincanton.
A promising fourth on chase debut earlier in the month, Colin Tizzard’s charge made all under Brendan Powell and went clear approaching the second last. Ridden out on the run-in, he did enough to deny his nearest marker rival by a length and a half.
Amarillo Sky is owned by JP Romans, Taylor and O’Dwyer since being purchased by his trainer with Peter and Ross Doyle for £280,000. This followed the son of Westerner’s debut point-to-point success for Colin Bowe.
He is the first foal bred by Mrs Amy Collins out of the unraced Flemensfirth mare Bag Of Tricks, who has a Vadamos filly foal catalogued in the Goffs December NH Sale.
