Promising Son Of Westerner Scores On Return

The progressive Whacker Clan (5g Westerner - Kolaliya, by Kahyasi) made a smart return to action on Sunday when running out an easy winner of the Five-Year-Old Geldings Maiden at Grennan point-to-point.

Owned and trained by John Halley, the bay finished third on both his starts as a four-year-old, but had not been seen since November. He tracked the leader under David Kiely and produced a challenge at the second last. Soon in front, he kept on well from the final fence to win by eight lengths.

The son of Westerner was bred by Robert Norton and comes from the family of High Chaparral.
