Second Course Win For Son Of Soldier Of Fortune
A step up in trip saw the promising Fortune Street (8g Soldier Of Fortune - Thamara, by Street Cry) gain a deserved win over hurdles at Wexford on Friday.
The Paul Nolan-trained gelding had course form, having won a bumper at the track, and had been placed on four occasions since. He chased the leaders under Richie Deegan, quickening on the back turn and gained a narrow advantage at the second last. Ridden out, he ran on well to win by a length and a half.
Speaking after the race, assistant trainer James Nolan said, “He deserved that and likes it here. I thought Richie was excellent on him, kept things very simple and I thought that was his best jumping performance.”
Owned by Softco, Fortune Street was bred by Haras dy Logis Saint Germain, who stood Soldier Of Fortune before his move to the Beeches Stud. His first Irish crop of four-year-olds have made a bright start, led by unbeaten Listed winner Belle Metal.
