Second Sales Topper Of The Week For Walk In The Park
Walk In The Park’s fantastic week continued on Friday, when impressive debut winner Mahon’s Way (4g Walk In The Park - Allys Bubble, by Luso) topped the Tattersalls Cheltenham November Sale at £360,000.
The Denis Hogan-trained bay justified favouritism in a four-year-old maiden at Lisronagh on Saturday and since then, his sire topped the Tattersalls Ireland November NH Sale and provided three session toppers.
Greeted by a full ring at Cheltenham, Mahon’s Way was eventually knocked down to agent Alex Elliott, who revealed the top lot would be trained by Henry de Bromhead for Cheveley Park Stud.
“His physical and his pedigree and his performance at the weekend all added up,” Elliott explained. “They can be very impressive but sometimes the physicals don’t add up with the race performance, but if they do they’re generally good horses.”
The son of Walk In The Park was bought by Denis Hogan as a three-year-old from Norman Williamson’s Oak Tree Farm for €80,000. “From day one we’ve loved him,” the delighted trainer said. “I hope he goes on to win a Gold Cup for them because he’s definitely got the makings of a Grade 1 horse. He was good at the weekend but that’s only a fraction of what he can do, I think there’s a load more to come.”
