Smart Mare Continues Fine Run For Leading Light
Lucky Light (5m Leading Light - Oscar Annie) continued a fine run for Grange Stud sire Leading Light when landing the Five-Year-Old Mares’ Maiden at Ballingarry on Saturday afternoon.
A promising fifth on debut last month, the Colin Bowe-trained bay was reunited with Barry O’Neill on her second start and chased the leaders for much of the way. Asserting at the third last, she stretched clear with the eventual runner-up, but proved impossible to pass and ran on to win by three lengths.
Owned by Martin Murphy, Lucky Light was bred by Mrs L. Suenson-Taylor. She becomes her sire’s third first crop winner of the week, while the top-class son of Montjeu also sired a five-year-old maiden winner at Dromahane last weekend.
