Smart Newcomer Leads Home Walk In The Park 1-2
The Pat Doyle-trained Nick Rockett (4g Walk In The Park - Eireann Rose, by Flemensfirth) led home a 1-2 for Walk In The Park in Sunday’s Four-Year-Old maiden at Curraghmore.
Racing towards the back of the field under Pa King, the Roger O’Byrne-owned newcomer made up impressive amount of ground from the third last and led at the penultimate fence. Keeping on well on the run-in, he denied Camulus (Walk In The Park) by three parts of a length, as Ukantango (Ocovango) kept on for third.
Bred by Kieran Cotter, Nick Rockett is out of an own-sister to Grade 3 winner Emily Gray (Flemensfirth), whose first foal Ernest Gray (Walk In The Park) also won on debut, before selling for £105,000. A full-brother to Nick Rockett sold to Aiden Murphy for €90,000 at this year’s Derby Sale.
