Smart Son Of Westerner Delivers On Second Start
The Nick Alexander-trained Fortescue Wood ( 6g Westerner - Primrose Time, by Alfora) built on last month’s promising debut to win Monday’s bumper at Ayr.
The son of Westerner took a keen hold under Grant Cockburn and led after four furlongs, extending his advantage to five lengths from over two furlongs out. Pushed along approaching the final furlong, he kept on well to win by five and a half lengths, as Ahoy Senor (Dylan Thomas) stayed on for second.
Owned by Bowen and Nicol, the smart son of Westerner was bred by Mrs D A Whitaker.
