Smart Sunday Treble For Soldier Of Fortune
De Tellers Fortune (4g Soldier Of Fortune - She’s No Pet, by Arcadio) kicked off super Sunday for Soldier Of Fortune when making a winning debut in the four-year-old maiden at Ballinaboola.
Mary Doyle’s charge raced prominently throughout and went on to score by a length and a half under Brian Dunleavy. Bred by Michael Whitty, the promising four-year-old will now be offered for sale.
Cormac Doyle was forced to settle for runners-up honours in the opener, but gained some compensation when Stadium Talk (5m Soldier Of Fortune - Dotchenka, by Astarabad) took the five and six-year-old mares’ maiden later on the card.
Ridden by Jack Hendrick, the daughter of Soldier Of Fortune displayed a game attitude when digging deep to deny Callin Baton Rouge (Westerner) by a neck on the line. Stadium Talk was bred by Thomas James out of a full-sister to top-class hurdler Whisper.
At Tallow later that afternoon, the Jimmy Mangan bred and trained Montys Soldier (5g Soldier Of Fortune - Montys Miss, by Presenting) made an impressive debut in the colours of Mary Mangan.
Johnny Hurley took the ride aboard the imposing bay and asserted before two out, going on to score by 20 lengths. The winning breeder/trainer later revealed that Montys Soldier would be aimed at a winners race.
