Air Of Entitlement (Westerner) Wins The Mares P2P Flat Race At Cork

Smart Westerner Mare Follows Up In Good Style

Smart prospect Air Of Entitlement (5m Westerner – Carrigeen Karaka, by Stowaway) led home a 1-2 for Westerner in the mares point-to-point flat race at Cork on Easter Monday.

The Robcour-owned mare was last seen running out an unchallenged winner of a four-year-old mares’ maiden for Colin Bowe and was making her first start for Henry de Bromhead on Monday. Sent off the even-money favourite, she was held up in midfield by John Gleeson and began to make headway from three furlongs out. Shaken up to lead after the two furlong pole, she was pushed clear inside the final furlong to beat fellow maiden winner Ocean Brew (Westerner) by four lengths and three quarters.

“It took the penny a while to drop with her but when it did, she did it nicely,” Gleeson said after the race. “She has lovely size and I think she's going to be a nice mare for the future. She is still raw and will strengthen up again.”

Air Of Entitlement was bred by Mrs RH Lalor and sold to Mags O’Toole at the Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale for €90,000.
