Soldier Of Fortune Filly Remains Unbeaten In Listed Bumper
Impressive debut winner Belle Metal (4f Soldier Of Fortune - Elphis Supreme, Westerner) rewarded her new owner when racing clear to win the Listed bumper at Limerick on Sunday.
Kenneth Alexander purchased the Willie Mullins-trained bay after her 12-length success in January and saw her sent off favourite to remain unbeaten at the weekend. Soon settled to track the leader by Patrick Mullins, she quickened into the lead entering the final furlong and soon went clear, extending her advantage to eight lengths on the line.
Speaking after the race, the winning rider said, “She stays very well and stamina is her forte. It is great to get black-type for the new owners so I imagine we might look at Punchestown now.”
Bred by John Connolly, Belle Metal continues a fantastic start by the first Irish-bred four-year-olds by the Beeches Stud sire Soldier Of Fortune. Having sold for up to €100,000 at the 2020 store sales, this exciting crop has also been represented by impressive newcomer Derrylinda, who won a bumper by 11 lengths earlier this week.
