Soldier Of Fortune Foals In Demand At Goffs

A well-related colt by Soldier Of Fortune provided one of the highlights on Day 1 of the Goffs December NH Sale when selling to Adrian Costello’s Park Farm for €72,000.

After signing the docket, Costello declared, “I loved him, he's a beautiful foal and I’m very pleased we could buy him. He's by a very good horse and out of a really good mare who has already produced good horses and has some nice stock to run for her.”

With such a calibre of foal, the future boasts plenty of possibility, as Costello explained, “We haven’t decided yet what we will do with him, we will bring him home and give him time but we could keep him or even bring him back for the store sales.”

Offered by Ashwood Stud on behalf of William Murphy, the bay colt is a half-sister to dual Grade 2 winner Impact Factor (Flemensfirth), out of the multiple Graded-placed Hello Kitty.

Soldier Of Fortune has covered bumper books of mares since his move to the Beeches Stud. His first Irish crop turned three this year and were well-received at the 2020 store sales, where they sold to the likes of MV Magnier, Shaun Brookhouse, Kevin Ross, Aidan O’Ryan, Richard Rohan, Ian Ferguson and Gerry Hogan.

Other popular foals by Soldier of Fortune on the day was a colt sold by Mill Road Stables for €33,000 and another from Ballinaroone Stud that fetched €31,000.
