The future looks bright for Fortunate Soldier (4g Soldier Of Fortune - Ma Belle Amie, by Oscar), after Liam Kenny’s charge ran out an impressive winner of Sunday’s four-year-old maiden at Oldcastle.

The €62,000 store buy finished a promising third on debut last month, with the winner of the race subsequently selling for £200,000. He appeared to appreciate Sunday’s front-running tactics and extended his advantage to three lengths by the final fence. Keeping on well on the run-in, he won by an easy six lengths under James Kenny.

Future plans remain undecided for Fortunate Soldier, who is owned by Patrick Joseph Redmond. Bred by Kieran Cotter, the son of Soldier Of Fortune becomes the first winner out of Grade 3 performer Ma Belle Amie.
