Soldier Of Fortune Gelding Bolts Up In Maiden Hurdle

Mad Mike (6g Soldier Of Fortune – Manorville, by Flemensfirth) made all to run out a wide margin winner of Friday’s maiden hurdle at Exeter.

Trained by Philip Hobbs and Johnson White, the bay showed a liking for heavy ground when claiming runners-up honours last time out. He was sent off favourite to get off the mark on Friday and was partnered by Sean Houlihan in the two mile and five furlong contest. Clear from three out, he went on to win by all of 25 lengths.

The Soldier Of Fortune gelding was bred by Anne Marie Ryan out of three-time winner Manorville (Flemensfirth).
