Soldier Of Fortune Gelding Eases Clear In Maiden Hurdle
Don’t Tell Su (6g Soldier Of Fortune – Bell Walks Day, by Flemensfirth) made all to gain a deserved win over hurdles at Wincanton on Wednesday.
Paul Nicholls’ charge won a bumper at the end of last season and returned to place on his first three starts over hurdles. The Soldier Of Fortune gelding was sent off favourite as he dropped back to two miles in the maiden hurdle and began to draw clear with two flights to jump. He was eased down on the run-in to beat Victory Club (Soldier Of Fortune) by six lengths, with another seven and half lengths back to the third.
Don’t Tell Su was bought by Nicholls with Tom Malone for €110,0000 and is now owned by Gordon and Su Hall. He was bred by Robert O’Callaghan out of a homebred full-sister to Grade 1 performer Time For Rupert (Flemensfirth).
