Soldier Of Fortune Gelding Impresses At Loughanmore
The well-related Unionhill (5g Soldier Of Fortune - Fairy Hill, by Stowaway) produced a smart debut performance to win the Five-Year-Old Geldings Maiden at Loughanmore on Saturday.
Colin McKeever’s newcomer raced prominently under Cormac Abernathy and asserted from five out. Three lengths clear by the second last, he ran on well from the final fence to win by two lengths and three quarters, while the runner-up finished clear of the field.
Unionhill is related to Grade 1 winner Bellshill, who was also owned by Wilson Dennison. The Soldier Of Fortune gelding was bred by Frank Motherway out of Fairy Hill, whose Walk In The Park three-year-old sold for €125,000 in June.
