Soldier Of Fortune Geldings Complete Impressive Double
Shattered Soldier (5g Soldier Of Fortune – Five Star Present, by Presenting) completed the first leg of an impressive double for his sire on Sunday when bolting up in the five-year-old geldings maiden at Tattersalls.
The Denis Murphy-trained chesnut looked the likely winner from some way out, as he boasted a clear lead after the fourth last and extended his advantage thereafter, going on to win by 20 lengths.
Jack Hendrick partnered the €67,000 store sale buy to victory. He was bred by Mrs O’Connor out of Five Star Present, who has a four-year-old full-brother to the winner, as well as a two-year-old by Crystal Ocean.
Shortly after at Borris House, the Jonathan Fogarty-trained Inishnabro (5g Soldier Of Fortune – Oilily, by Dr Massini) landed the second division of the five-year-old geldings maiden.
Conor Moore partnered the bay on his second start, positioning him tracking the leaders in a field of fifteen. Ridden to lead before the second last, he kept on well on the run-in to win by ten lengths.
The son of Beeches Stud sire Soldier Of Fortune was bred by Paula Murphy & Eadaoin Byrne.
