Soldier Of Fortune In Demand At Tattersalls Cheltenham
Exciting point-to-point winner City Chief (4g Soldier Of Fortune - Galant Ferns) is joining the stable of Nicky Henderson after selling for £210,000 at Thursday’s Tattersalls Cheltenham May Sale.
Highflyer Bloodstock’s David Minton did the bidding, after which, Henderson said, “He’s a really nice, quality horse. The films look good and Denis recommended him. He’s my type of horse.”
It’s been a successful few days for the bay’s handler, Denis Murphy, with City Chief having won the Four-Year-Old Geldings Maiden at Tralee on Sunday. “He really is a lovely horse and very kind,” Murphy said. “His homework was very good and he won like a good horse. We’ve been waiting for juice in the ground and it came in time to run him.”
Bred by Mr L. Kenny, he completed a four-year-old double for Soldier Of Fortune at the weekend, with A Fortune Out West (4g Soldier Of Fortune - Western Road) having won Saturday’s four-year-old maiden at Punchestown.
Colin Bowe’s winning newcomer attracted the attentions of Mags O’Toole and Gordon Elliott, who provided the winning bid of £90,000 on Thursday.
