Polly's Fortune (Soldier Of Fortune) wins the bumper at Limerick

Soldier Of Fortune Mare Draws Clear In Bumper

Polly’s Fortune (5m Soldier Of Fortune – Pollyogan, by Oscar) reproduced the promise shown on debut to run out a commanding winner of Thursday’s bumper at Limerick.

The Willie Mullins-trained mare finished a close second over course and distance last season and was sent off favourite on Thursday, despite a significant absence. Making all of the running under Patrick Mullins, she began to draw clear from two furlongs out and needed little encouragement to score by seven and a half lengths.

Speaking after the race, the winning rider said, “The plan wasn't to make the running but we were gifted an early lead. I'd imagine she'll improve and is versatile distance-wise and could go hurdling now.”

Bred by David Fenton, Polly’s Fortune runs in the colours of the Blue Blood Racing Club. The daughter of Soldier Of Fortune is the first foal and first winner out of Pollyogan.
