Soldier Of Fortune Mare Gains Fifth Career Victory
The Guillaume Macaire-trained Black Luna (5m Soldier of Fortune - Back The Winner, by Entrepeneur) gained her fifth career success when taking the Prix Aristote at Auteuil on Tuesday.
A Listed winner over hurdles, this was her second win over fences and her first start over two miles and six furlongs. Kilian Dubourg rode the eventual winner to track the leading pair, who raced clear for much of the way, as the rest of the field waited until the fifth last to narrow their advantage. Black Luna quickened on the turn for home and led before the last, running on strongly to score by five lengths.
Black Luna is owned by Ecurie Willie Sebag in partnership with A.S. and D. Allard. She is a half-sister to multiple black-type winner Jazz In Montreux, bred by Jean-Francois Gribomont out of the Stakes-placed mare Back The Winner, herself a daughter of Group 2 Prix de Royallieu runner-up Good To Dance.
