Soldier Of Fortune Mare Proves A Class Above
Toughasoldboots (4f Soldier Of Fortune - Khirahs Firth, by Flemensfirth) could hardly have been more impressive when winning the mares’ maiden hurdle at Huntingdon on her first start for Donald McCain.
The daughter of Soldier Of Fortune finished a promising third at Lisronagh on her final start for Sam Curling and dropped back to two and a half miles on her rules debut. Racing prominently under Brian Hughes, she produced a strong challenge three from home and led on the turn for home. Clear at the second last, she required little encouragement to draw 26 lengths clear on the line.
Successful in the colours of Birkdale Bloodstock, Toughasoldboots was bred by Michael Thornton.
