Ballygelly (Soldier Of Fortune) Wins The Mares Maiden At Moira

Soldier Of Fortune Mare Wins Second Start In Style

The promising Ballygelly (5m Soldier Of Fortune - Indian Love, by Indian Danehill) made all to justify favouritism in the mares’ maiden at Moira on Saturday.

The Gerald Quinn-trained mare made a promising debut two weeks earlier, where she led for much of the way and kept on in second behind a more experienced rival. Reunited with Noel McParlan on her second start, she was ridden from the second last and kept on well on the run-in to score by six and a half lengths.

Ballygelly completed a four-timer on the card for Coolmore NH sires. The daughter of Soldier Of Fortune is owned by PJ McBurney and was bred by the CAFRE Enniskillen Campus.
