Son Of Flemensfirth Lands Feature Chase

Liam Burke had cause for celebration as both owner and trainer when landing Saturday’s Tim Duggan Memorial Chase at Limerick with Sumos Novios (11g Flemensfirth - Gaelic Million, by Strong Gale).

Derek O’Connor rode the bay to lead in the Grade B feature and remained patient when headed at the fourth last, regaining the advantage at the next fence. Staying on well on the run-in, he won by three lengths from Minella Times (Oscar).

Burke later mentioned the Leopardstown Chase and Leinster National as possible targets for Sumos Novios. Bred by Ms Cora Cronin, the son of Flemensfirth is now a six-time winner over fences, including at Grade 3 level.
