Son Of Getaway Bolts Up In Maiden Hurdle

The promising David’s Well (5g Getaway – Drop Of Spirit, by Westerner) eased clear to justify favouritism in Monday’s maiden hurdle at Plumpton.

The Getaway gelding joined Chris Gordon following his placed effort in a four-year-old maiden for Cormac Doyle and was last seen finishing fifth to a Grade 2 performer at Newbury. Partnered by regular rider Rex Dingle on Mondaym he raced prominently throughout the two mile contest and asserted at the fourth last. He was travelling best of the field as he began to draw clear approaching two out and went on to score by 14 lengths.

“He couldn't have done it any easier,” Dingle later said. “He's a chaser in the making.”

David’s Well was bred by Swanbridge Bloodstock out of the Westerner mare Drop Of Spirit, herself a half-sister to Grade 1 scorer Prince Of Scars (Flemensfirth).
