Gallyhill (Getaway) Wins His Beginners Chase At Down Royal

Son Of Getaway Delights Elliott Over Fences

Gallyhill (7g Getaway - Tanit, by Xaar) improved on last month’s promising stable debut to justify favouritism in Monday’s Beginners Chase at Down Royal.

Runner-up over two miles at Clonmel, the Gordon Elliott-trained bay was held up behind the leaders by Conor Orr and began to make headway from four out. Challenging from the next, he was ridden out on the run-in to lead by half a length on the line.

“I’m delighted with his performance,” Elliott said after the race. “He's a big chaser in the making. He's a grand horse, a proper galloper, and a nice one going forward.”

The son of Getaway is owned by Claudio Michael Grech, having been purchased by Henrietta Knight for £450,000 following his debut point-to-point victory for Jamie Sloan. Subsequently successful in a novice hurdle for Nicky Henderson, he is the highest-rated performer bred by Sean Gorman out of the mare Tanit.
