Son Of Mahler Impresses In Maiden Hurdle
The progressive Tightenourbelts (6g Mahler - Miss McGoldrick, by Kasakov) proved a class above his rivals in Thursday’s maiden hurdle at Ludlow.
Emma Lavelle’s charge appeared unlucky on his last two starts when collared close home and was sent off favourite to go one better over two miles and five furlongs. Ridden to make all by Tom Bellamy, he drew clear from three out and needed little encouragement to lead by 18 lengths on the line.
Third on his sole start between the flags for Eugene O’Sullivan, Tightenourbelts is now owned by Andrew Gemmell with Salvo and Alex and Giannini. The son of Mahler was bred by John Connolly out of a half-sister to high-class chaser Mister McGoldrick.
