Bocellis Voice Wins His Maiden Hurdle At Clonmel 1

Son Of Mahler Proves Stamina In Maiden Hurdle

A step up in trip saw Bocelli’s Voice (7g Mahler - Made Of Diamonds, by Alfora) get off the mark in Tuesday’s maiden hurdle at Clonmel.

Dermot McLoughlin’s representative had made promising late headway on his last two starts and stepped up to two miles and two furlongs on Tuesday. Racing prominently under Michael Molloy, he was pushed along to take second at the penultimate flight and was ridden to lead approaching the last. Staying on well, he won by two and a quarter lengths from Mister Twist (Yeats), with the pair finishing clear of the rest of the field.

Owned by Con Smyth, Bocelli’s Voice began his career in point-to-points and placed on both his starts between the flags. The son of Mahler was bred by Michael Whitty out of Made Of Diamonds, whose four-year-old Ceis Charraigin (Mahler) finished a promising fourth on debut earlier this month.
