Son Of Mahler Scores On Rules Debut

Point-to-point winner Aughafatten (5g Mahler - Olivia Rose, by Mujadil) made a worthwhile trip to Perth on Wednesday to make a winning rules debut in the bumper.

The Gerald Quinn-trained bay was last seen winning a five-year-old maiden at Ballingarry and was reunited with D McGill on return. Chasing the leader for much of the two furlong contest, he led before the two furlong pole and was ridden a furlong later. He kept on well to beat the favourite by three lengths.

Owned by PJ McBurney and bred by Mrs Deborah Hobson, Aughafatten is a full-brother to Graded chaser Delusionofgrandeur (Mahler).
