Marown Wins The Novice Chase At Ayr 1

Son Of Milan Adds Chase Success To Impressive Record

The ultra-consistent Marown (6g Milan - Rosie Suspect, by Presenting) built on a promising start over fences to win Monday’s Novices’ Chase at Ayr.

Trained by Nicky Richards for Trevor Hemmings, the son of Milan won a bumper on debut before making it two from two over hurdles and finished third on his chase debut last month. The bay was sent off favourite under Brian Hughes and appeared to appreciate the return to two and a half miles. Leading approaching the penultimate fence, he was pushed along to go clear at the last and scored by four lengths in comfortable fashion.

Bred by John Donovan, Marown was bought by Highflyer Bloodstock at the Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale for €80,000. His half-brother Castle Rushen (Fame And Glory) has also won a bumper and twice over hurdles for the same connections.
