Son Of Milan Adds Second Grade 2 To Unbeaten Hurdle Record
My Drogo (6g Milan - My Petra, by Midnight Legend) continued to impress on Saturday when carrying a penalty to success in the Grade 2 bet365 Premier Novices’ Hurdle at Kelso.
The Dan Skelton-trained bay was last seen making it two from two over hurdles in the Grade 2 Supreme Trial and was sent off favourite as he stepped up to two miles and two furlongs. He raced towards the back of the field under Harry Skelton and began to make headway from halfway, improving to dispute at the second last. Soon in front, he was ridden to go clear on the run-in and scored by nine and a half lengths in comfortable fashion.
“My Drogo is a lovely horse,” Dan Skelton later said. “We're very lucky to have him. I think he's very progressive, to do that under a Class 1 penalty is quite impressive. Hopefully he's got a big future.”
Owned by Mr and Mrs Kelvin-Hughes, Mr Drogo is expected to reappear at the Aintree Festival. The son of Milan is the best produce to-date of Grade 2 winning chaser My Petra.
