Son Of Milan Defies Penalty In Fine Style

San Giovanni (6g Milan - Down By The Sea, by Fourstars Allstar) proved a class above his rivals when drawing clear in Monday’s novice hurdle at Newton Abbot.

Last seen winning a maiden hurdle in taking fashion, the Harry Fry-trained bay was sent off favourite as he stepped up in trip and was ridden to make all by Nick Schofield. Pushed clear approaching the second last, he was eased down close home to win by 20 lengths.

San Giovanni is owned by the GDM Partnership and was bred by Jerry Russell. The son of Milan is a full-brother to two winners.
