Son Of Milan Denies Hot Favourite With Bumper Success
Cavalry Master (5g Milan - Magie De Toulouse, by Northern Crystal) made a marked improvement on his second start to win Sunday’s bumper at Kilbeggan.
Declan Lavery rode the Henry de Bromhead-trained grey in second and was travelling well three furlongs out when he improved to lead. Going clear after the two furlong marker, he was ridden out to hold off a challenge by the even-money favourite Think Positive and scored by three lengths on the line.
De Bromhead, who trains Cavalry Master for Gigginstown House Stud, commented after the race, “He's a lovely big horse and has always worked nicely. He'll go home to Gigginstown now for a summer holiday, and will love a bit more ease in the ground. He jumps really well and has won a schooling hurdle.”
Bred by James Cummins and Jacqueline Taylor, Cavalry Master was bought by his trainer for €92,000 at the Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale.
