Son Of Milan Draws Clear In Beginners Chase
A step up in trip brought out a career-best performance from Cavalry Master (7g Milan - Magie De Toulouse, by Northern Crystal), who ran out an impressive winner of Friday’s Beginners Chase at Kilbeggan.
Successful in a bumper and maiden hurdle, the Henry De Bromhead-trained grey finished second last time out and stepped up to two miles and six furlongs on his latest start. Racing prominently throughout under Rachael Blackmore, he led after the third last and went clear from the penultimate fence. Running on strongly, he justified favouritism by nine and a half lengths.
Owned by Gigginstown House Stud, Cavalry Master was bought by his trainer at the Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale for €92,000. The son of Grange Stud sire Milan was bred by James Cummins and Ms Jacqueline Taylor.
