Howyabud (Milan) Wins His Maiden Hurdle At Leopardstown

Son Of Milan Impresses At Leopardstown

Howyabud (4g Milan - Youngborogal, by Anshan) shaped like a smart prospect when landing the Savills Maiden Hurdle at Leopardstown on Tuesday.

Trained by Mary Ellen Doyle for owner/breeder Charlie Carter, the bay had claimed runners-up honours on all of his previous starts and raced over two and a half miles on his hurdle debut. Racing prominently throughout under Jack Foley, he was ridden on the turn for home and soon went clear, going on to beat the short-priced favourite by six lengths.

Doyle, who was celebrating her first winner under rules, said after the race, “He had good bumper form coming here and ran well in a very good point-to-point in Monksgrange. We think a lot of him.”
