Son Of Milan Impresses Nicholls at Newbury
The Paul Nicholls-trained McFabulous (5g Milan - Rossavon, by Beneficial) ran out an impressive winner of the bumper at Newbury on Saturday.
Successful on debut in October, he was sent off favourite under Lorcan Williams, who rode him to chase the pace, before leading approaching the three furlong marker. Ridden clear in the final furlong, he crossed the line six lengths in front of Faustinovick, with another length back to £115,000 buy Silver Hallmark.
Paul Nicholls was full of praise after the race, saying, “McFabulous is a really nice horse. He's one of the better bumper horses we've got. We may put him away for the year, but if he is to run, it could be in the bumper at Aintree.”
Owned by Giraffa Racing and bred by Vincent Finn, McFabulous was bought by Tom Malone for €88,000 at the Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale. He is a half-brother to Grade 1 winning chaser Waiting Patiently (Flemensfirth), who is expected to run in the Grade 1 Ryanair Chase at the upcoming Cheltenham Festival.
