Son Of Milan Lands Grade 3 On Seasonal Return
Orbys Legend (5g Milan - Morning Legend, by Bob Back) made an excellent start to the season when landing the Grade 3 Silver Trophy Handicap Hurdle at Chepstow.
Twice a winning over hurdles last season, the Philip Hobbs-trained bay was last seen bolting up by 12 lengths at Sandown in March. Stepping up in trip on Saturday, he tracked the leaders for much of the way and was ridden to lead from two out. Keeping on well on the run-in, he scored by a length under Tom O’Brien, who later commented, “He's an exciting prospect for the season ahead.”
Owned by Highclere Thoroughbred Racing, Orbys Legend has won or been placed on all his starts; be it over hurdles, in a bumper or between the flags. The son of Milan was bred by Michael Dillon.
Nina The Terrier (5m Milan - Shees A Dante, by Westerner) also made a winning return to action the previous day, as she justified favouritism in the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle.
A winner on her previous start in May, she successfully stepped up in trip at Chepstow and scored by four and a quarter lengths under Tom Bellamy. “That was effortless,” Bellamy commented. “Her jumping was brilliant and she's got a future over fences, but I'm sure she can win plenty over hurdles as well. For a mare, she's very straightforward and ticks a lot of boxes.”
