Son Of Milan Makes It Two From Two
The Nicky Richards-trained Marown (6g Milan - Rosie Suspect, by Presenting) remained unbeaten when making a winning hurdle debut at Ayr on Thursday.
Successful first time out in a bumper in March, the Trevor Hemmings-owned bay stepped up to two and a half miles for his return in the maiden hurdle. Brian Hughes rode him in a prominent position, improving into second approaching the third last and led at the next flight. Pushed out, he kept on well under pressure to win by two and a half lengths from Sirwilliamwallace (Getaway), the pair racing ten lengths clear of the third.
Bred by John Donovan, Marown was bought by Highflyer Bloodstock as a three-year-old for €80,000. Connections were clearly impressed by Marown even before he appeared on the track, as they gave €90,000 for his half-brother by Fame And Glory in June 2018. In training with Nicky Richards, he has been named Castle Rushen.
