Son Of Milan Now Two From Two Over Hurdles
Mossy Fen (4g Milan - Inch Native, by Supreme Leader) made it two from two over hurdles when justifying favoritism in Saturday’s Novices’ Hurdle at Aintree.
The winner of a Four-Year-Old Maiden in April, he made a winning start for new connections over two miles and seven furlongs last month, but dropped back to two and a half miles on his latest start.
Sam Twiston-Davies rode the bay to make all and was driven to extend his advantage from two out. A length in front at the final flight, he was driven clear on the run-in to win by three lengths and three quarters.
Speaking after the race, winning trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies commented, “It was a good performance by Mossy Fen giving weight to older horses. He was just a little green but the race wasn't run to suit. We'll find another novice hurdle for him and he could go to Cheltenham in December.”
Owned by Carl Hinchy and Mark Scott, Mossy Fen was bred by Aidan Byrne out of chase winner Inch Native.
