Son Of Ocovango Extends Unbeaten Record Over Hurdles
Percy Warner (5g Ocovango - Fugal Maid, by Winged Love) made it two from two over hurdles when running out a brave winner of Tuesday’s two mile hurdle at Fairyhouse.
Ridden to chase the leader by Jack Kennedy, Gordon Elliott’s charge was left to battle with Low Sun from the final flight, the pair racing neck and neck to the finish. Percy Warner led close home and scored by half a length from talented dual-purpose performer Low Sun (Champs Elysees).
Elliott later commented that the Basil Holian-owned winner would be seen to best effect over fences, as demonstrated by his first career win in a four-year-old maiden at Boulta. The Robert McCarthy-bred bay fetched €100,000 after his success between the flags and has since provided important updates for his three-year-old full-sister and yearling half-brother by Idaho.
Gordon Elliott is in charge of another promising son of Ocovango in Glenglass (Ocovango), having gone to £155,000 for Colin Bowe’s debut point-to-point winner.
