Son Of Soldier Of Fortune Eases Clear On Hurdle Debut
Crebilly (5g Soldier Of Fortune - Blueberry Bramble, by Pistolet Bleu) couldn’t have been more impressive when running out a wide margin winner of Thursday’s maiden hurdle at Newcastle.
Jonjo O’Neill’s charge was well-supported in the market, having finished third in a bumper on his sole previous start for connections, who purchased the bay for £100,000 following his promising third at Kirkistown for Gerald Quinn.
He travelled strongly throughout Thursday’s two mile contest and eased into the lead from three out. Pushed along at the next, he boasted a clear advantage at the final flight and went on to win by 21 lengths, unchallenged.
Owned by JP McManus, Crebilly was bred by JF Mernagh out of his homebred half-sister to Midlands National winner Seven Towers.
