Son Of Soldier Of Fortune Takes Four Year Old Maiden

Oak Grove (4g Soldier Of Fortune - Side Saddle, by King’s Theatre) ran out a game winner of Sunday’s Four-Year-Old Maiden at Oldcastle point-to-point.

Robert James’s charge finished a promising fourth on debut in February and was partnered by Finny Maguire on his second start. Tracking the leader for much of the way, he led after the third last and kept on well on the run-in to deny a challenger by a neck on the line. Promising newcomer Yalla Habibi (Soldier Of Fortune) finished third.

Bred by Coolmara Stables, Oak Grove was bought by Rob James at the store sales for €75,000. The son of Soldier Of Fortune provides an important update for his two-year-old half-sister by Getaway and yearling half-sister by Crystal Ocean.
