Son Of Walk In The Park Battles Back In Novice Hurdle
Walks Like The Man (6g Walk In The Park – Nifty Nuala, by Saddlers’ Hall) rallied gamely to get off the mark over hurdles at Plumpton on Sunday.
The Anthony Charlton-trained bay finished third on his hurdle bow last month and stepped up to two and a half miles in Sunday’s Novices’ Hurdle. He tracked the leader until asserting at halfway and was ridden when headed at the second last. Digging deep under pressure, he led inside the final 110 yards and prevailed by a neck on the line under.
Speaking after the race, winning rider Harry Cobden said, “Walks Like The Man jumped really well today. He put his neck out and galloped on really well to the line. He's a nice horse.”
Sunday marked a second win under rules for Walks Like The Man, who won a bumper on rules debut last season. He was following up on his maiden victory for Colin Bowe, who subsequently sold the Mark Grace-bred gelding for £225,000.
