Son Of Walk In The Park Blows Them Away In Grade 2 Bumper
The exciting Facile Vega (5g Walk In The Park - Quevega, by Robin Des Champs) exceeded expectations with an awesome performance in Saturday’s Grade 2 bumper at Leopardstown.
Willie Mullins’s charge lived up to a lofty reputation on debut at the Christmas Festival, when impressive over the same two mile trip, and was sent off a short-priced favourite on Saturday. Cruising into the lead two furlongs from home, he skipped clear approaching the final furlong and was eased close home to score by 12 lengths.
Winning rider Patrick Mullins afterwards said what everyone was thinking; “That was pretty 'wow!' He is a bit special I'd say.” The winning trainer was similarly impressed, saying, “He's even better than I thought he was. He looks like the real deal.”
Owned and bred by the Hammer & Trowel Syndicate, Facile Vega is the second foal out of the stable’s top-class hurdler Quevega. He hails from Walk In The Park’s first crop since moving to Grange Stud, as do the team’s impressive bumper winners Seabank Bistro and Pink In The Park.
