Son Of Walk In The Park Justifies Support On Debut

The well-related Butch Cassidy (4g Walk In The Park – Fair Ina, by Taipan) shaped like a useful prospect when making a winning debut in Friday’s bumper at Ballinrobe.

The Philip Fenton-trained newcomer was sent off favourite under Eoin O’Brien and raced prominently throughout. Shaken up to lead after the two furlong pole, he was ridden when challenged by Swingin Safari (Walk In The Park) inside the final furlong. He kept on gamely to win by half a length, with another six lengths back to the third horse.

“He's a nice horse,” the winning trainer confirmed. “I'd say there's a lot of improvement to come. He's a beautiful-looking horse, a big chaser in the making and he has lots of fences jumped which is a big help.”

Butch Cassidy was bought at the Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale for €140,000 and runs in the colours of Mrs John Magnier. The son of Walk In The Park was bred by Paramount Farms and is a half-brother to Champion Bumper winner Fayonagh.
