Uncle Phil (Walk In The Park) Wins The Grade 3 Chase At Fairyhouse

Son Of Walk In The Park Makes All In Grade 3 Chase

Uncle Phil (7g Walk In The Park – Synthe Davis, by Saint Des Saints) maintained an upward curve when landing Saturday’s Grade 3 feature at Fairyhouse.

The Willie Mullins-trained bay recorded two clear wins over fences before finishing a close third in the Grade 2 Craddockstown Novice Chase at Punchestown. Reunited with Paul Townend at Fairyhouse, he made all of the running and found plenty when challenged at the second last. Pushed clear on the run-in, he led by three lengths and three quarters on the line, with another two lengths back to previous Grade 3 winner Letsbeclearaboutit (Flemensfirth) in third.

“That was very nice,” Townend said after the race. “He was jumping so well here that he probably puts them under pressure behind him. I didn't know what to expect from him coming here, but I did think his jumping would bring him a long way.”

Now three from six over fences, Uncle Phil adds to wins over hurdles and in a bumper. Owned by Mrs Donnelly and bred by KD Cotter, he is a full-brother to black-type novice hurdler Helnwein (Walk In The Park).
